The refill for the Joshkas 20-Stage Shower Filter. Same 20-stage media stack as the one your filter shipped with. It drops into the housing you already have on your shower arm — you are not replacing the filter body, only what is inside it.

When to change it

Every 3 months under normal use — roughly two showers a day. Change it sooner if your water is hard, if you have more than two people using the shower, or as soon as the media goes from off-white to grey-brown. That colour change is the cartridge telling you it is full.

How to swap it

Turn the water off at the tap.
Unscrew the filter housing from the shower arm by hand.
Take the old cartridge out and put the new one in, the same way round.
Screw the housing back on. Add a turn of plumber's tape to the threads if it ever dripped before.
Run the shower for 30 seconds before you get in — the first water carries loose carbon dust and runs grey. That is normal.

Does it fit my filter?
It fits the Joshkas 20-stage shower filter. It is not designed for another brand's housing — if you own a different filter, check its own refill.

Why does the water run grey for the first few seconds?
Loose carbon dust from a fresh cartridge. Run the shower for 30 seconds and it clears.

Can I rinse the old one and reuse it?
No. The media binds what it captures — rinsing does not release it, it only pushes it further in.

What if I forget to change it?
The filter keeps flowing, it just stops filtering. That is why the colour matters more than the calendar.
